We had a lot of fun with the creative on this one. It’s part Reel, Part Experimentation. We started off the piece doing a stop motion piece using the RED Gemini 5K and accessories. Then we added in many of our favorite pieces of film….add in some editing sauce and there you have it. :) Enjoy.

James Weber
“Finding the Wet Plate Collodion process has been one of the most enjoyable experiences photographically that James has had in his 19 years of photography. Shooting analogue photography in all of its various forms has been part of James’ creative life for as long as he’s been shooting. Even after digital came to grow as the omnipresent form in which most photographers shoot and earn their living, James has always been driven to also dedicate some time to his art in an analogue way. Wet Plate is the best of all worlds. Wet Plate is a chemical process as much as it is a photographic process. It’s getting back to the darkroom which adds a uniqueness to each image. It’s using large format cameras and lenses that are 100+ years old. It’s using crazy, huge aerial lenses of WWII to get amazing large plate portraits. It’s getting back to the roots of the first recorded images. It’s part Breaking Bad, mixing up the chemistry, and part Ansel Adams trekking up mountains with a large format camera to get the shot. The process slows you down so that you take in all of the minute details of your subject before you shoot. Because of this necessary attention to detail, it’s made me a better photographer. To me, it’s the most fun you can have with a camera.”
